Day 3 of the Pipe comp went down today wrapping up the Open Men’s portion of the comp in dramatic fashion. Big ups to Jeff Hubbard for taking his second title in as many years and fourth Pipe victory overall! On the heels of some of the best conditions we’ve seen at the sport’s most celebrated annual event yesterday, Day 3 came damn near close to topping it. And from an action standpoint it was arguably better as the bar has obviously been raised for the 2012 tour in terms of talent. It seems as though no competitor is safe these days with local trialists to veteran pros to young upstarts all breathing down the necks of the top 24 to even the playing field.

This year the participants came in record number as the sport continues to flourish and grow worldwide. From Morocco to Canada to Japan to South Africa the competitors came far and came hungry. A record number of participants forced a Pre-Trials event at Sandy’s on the opposite side of the island where riders slugged it out in very different conditions a few days prior to get a chance at the best venue on the planet. Unfortunately for Pismo, both Louie and James went down early and the local Hawaiians shined. Roldolf advanced through the dk trials though, and remains as the lone Central Cali wolf, waiving the red bearded Pismo flag that is attached to his face into tomorrow’s final day of competition. The women’s and dk heats will wrap up tomorrow and Brett will likely surf sometime late Saturday morning to afternoonish. Stay tuned here and here for the latest updates on heat times. Although the waves will continue to decline for the final day of competition, the conditions should still be epic with mid-size swell and clean winds. Its finally feeling like its wintertime on the North Shore! Pipe has been doing its thing even though most of the days have been consumed by contests! All the boogies are arriving and putting in the time for the Pipe event. Garner has arrived and his energy is flowing through the whole crew in a super productive way. The forecast for the contest is looking pretty darn good!!! Two solid NW swells are lining up for the contest waiting period! Meanwhile on the mainland, we spent a week on the CC to capture some more media around the Christmas season. We couldn’t quite live up to HH features past (I, II, III, IV), but we scrounged up enough media to throw up this update after a few steep midsize swells with decent conditions hit the 805. Unfortunately, the crew continues to wane up in the 805 with Lou now a fixture on the Rock, but luckily Adam was back in town post-Chile, Willie was frothing as usual, and Roldy was doing heavy reps prepping for his North Shore stay next month. Throw in a visit from Chanus and Delmore from their new respective homes, and DK Wars was on!

The new year has come and the world is still handling! The new year has only brought epic conditions with solid NW swell for the beginning week of January. Pipe has started to do its thing along with many other spots! Dawson has been on the photo and video scene 25/8 producing some solid clips and photos that i will post up. The boogies have been slowly trickling in the last few weeks. Its always sick to see the transition of the surfing scene calming and the boogie scene stirring! i feel like the talent level the last few years has really been raising! Excited to see the action that goes down this season and thru out the new year. i have plenty more to write about but just want to get some pics up, another update will be coming soon with more words and info!!

Already mid-december, a bit hard to believe due to the lack of swell. Up until this last week, we have been dealing with a below average season. The Pipe Masters waiting period linked up with are first solid nw swell of the season and I must say it was one of the better ones I have ever seen. All those guys were rushing it hard and pipe was handing out some straight gems!! Speaking of contest, the Fronton event is going down and Im frothing on the intense battle for the world tittle! Jeff, Pierre and Hardballzz are all hoping for the chance to wear the belt. Frothing on the IBA’s whole live feed and just the amazing events they have been putting on this year! Even with the lack of swell Dawson, Louie, Zimbra and my self have been making the most of the small waves. I’m going to post some random shots of the crew shredding it! Alot of this is from last year but dawson and my self want to get it out if it hasnt been properly viewed by da world. i still have a entire Puerto feed to do as well so watch for dat! Im also going to throw some rookies riders profile questions that i have had for like 5 years!
